KnowX belongs both here and in the public records section.  KnowX indexes all kinds of public records, including state business registrations.  This can be a way to find a business affiliation when you can't find it through any other business directory.  Don't expect a great deal of detail or financial information, but sometimes the affiliation information will put you on the right trail and it might also reveal family members or business associates.
